Julie - Level 4AA Stylist

After two decades in the beauty industry, Julie Lahr has consistently stayed ahead of the latest trends. She began her extensive career in a small, locally owned, and award winning salon in Indianapolis. Julie's diverse background fostered her ability to communicate effectively with all types of clients. Her busy and challenging schedule is never apparent in her calm laid back communication style and manner.

Passion and talent led Julie to owning and operating three of her own salons over the course of her career, one of which was awarded "Best of Indy" 3 years in a row. Her diverse career has also led her to teaching hair stylists around the globe, and presenting at some of the United States largest fashion conventions. As a professional hair stylist, Julie has worked on many photo shoots, ad campaigns, and fashion shows throughout the nation.

As a global educator and platform artist for Redken 5th Ave since 2004, Julie has helped salon professionals advance their careers, increase income, and bring out their personal best. She facilitates several programs every year at the award winning Redken Exchange in Manhattan.

Julie joined our team in April 2016. She was attracted to the trendy atmosphere that resembles Chelsea, NYC and the dedication to excellence that the owners and staff bring to their clients. 

Hours (typically):  Tuesdays - 9am-4pm;  Thursdays - 10am-9pm;  Fridays - 9am-5pm

Abigail - Level 3 Stylist

Abigail joined our team in August 2016.  Abigail has a passion for creating custom color creations by formulating colors specific to her individual guest and hand painting on the color.  This allows for the guest to achieve their desired look as well as maintaining individuality, which is very important to Abigail.  Showing off her versatility, Abigail also focuses on the art of barbering through free hand clipper cutting techniques.  This allows for the smoothest and even cut and prevents any lines showing in a men's haircut.  She has a passion for learning and education and is always actively looking for her next opportunity to learn and grow as a stylist.

Abigail has always had the creative gene.  Arts and crafts have always been a major part of her life and she continues to use this creativity every day while working with her guests.  She is very goal oriented and free spirited, and her passion for hair shows every day.  We are honored and excited to have such a talent as part of our team!

Emily - Level 2 Stylist

Emily joined our team in April of 2018 and has been a licensed cosmetologist for over 7 years.  Emily loves being a stylist because her days always bring new and familiar faces, and she loves working with people.  She also loves the hair industry as it is always moving, which brings so many opportunities to consistently grow and learn.

Emily loves to work with all types of hair and is very versatile in her art.  Her passions include creating dimension within hair color, working with vivid/fashion colors, and also performing men's haircuts.  She is also Brazilian Blowout certified.

No matter her circumstances, Emily's very favorite thing to do is make someone else's day.  This shows in her work and her focus on making her guests happy.  She believes in spreading positivity everywhere, and her passion for her career allows her to find what makes a person look and feel beautiful - and chances are, they will go out and spread that feeling to others.

Chloe - Level 1 Stylist

Chloe joined our team in April of 2019. After over half-a-decade making heads of hair pop on the theatrical stage, Chloe was ready to put her talents and her passions to the true test. Through years of experimenting on not only herself but countless friends and colleagues, she finely-tuned a craft that she believes can truly make a scene.

Chloe is a 2019 graduate of Aveda Frederic's Institute in Indianapolis. Consequentially, she also received her Indiana State Cosmetology License this year. She is excited and inspired by the fact that the industry is always evolving, and there will never be a time where she is unable to learn something new.

Chloe loves all things color! The mastery of an effective and brilliant new color scheme may just be her favorite part of the craft. She very much enjoys being able to use her passion to bring a realization of both outer and inner beauty to her clients.

She is very thankful to have found a work home that is right for her. Chloe enjoys and appreciates immensely the stylists and creators that she gets to work with each day. She could not be more grateful for the opportunity to help make this establishment what it is. Chloe will continue to live out her dream and her passion of giving to someone that distinct look which may inform upon their inner confidence and inspire them to move forward with style.

Paige - Associate Stylist

Paige joined our team in August of 2019. She is a graduate of Aveda Fredric’s Institute. She has grown up in the beauty industry, as her mother is a stylist as well. Paige started working in a salon when she was 18 as a receptionist and stylist assistant, before even attending cosmetology school. After a few years she decided it was time to get licensed, so she could fully immerse herself in this business.

Paige has a passion for learning and enjoys furthering her education to keep up with the latest trends and expand her skills in the salon. She also has a passion for people. She has found that her favorite part of this industry is getting to know each guest. This allows her to give them a look that not only fits their lifestyle but makes them look and feel beautiful.

Christina - Guest Services/Front Desk Coordinator

Christina is a native of Lafayette, IN. She moved to the Indianapolis area in November of 2016 when she married her husband. In July of 2017, Christina came to our salon for a haircut. During checkout at her appointment, Christina got to talking with the owners about being new to the area and really needing something to do with her time. It was as if all stars aligned, and a week later, Christina began working as our front desk associate.

Christina attended Purdue University for a few years, but ultimately, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ivy Tech Community College in Lafayette. She considers herself a “Jack of all trades” and enjoys learning as much as she can about anything and everything. Some of her passions include studying the Bible, crafting and scrapbooking, reading, gardening, camping, and fishing.

Christina loves coming to work and enjoys her job immensely. She has come to know many amazing people through working at The Alternative Hair Studio. Each day is a new opportunity to brighten someone’s day with a smile, conversation, or just a friendly hello. Christina loves all of the guests who come in to our salon, and she can’t wait for you to be the next person to come in, so that she can have a chance to brighten YOUR day!

Rylee - Guest Services/Front Desk Coordinator

Rylee joined our team in August of 2019. She first found her interest in the salon industry after working at a local Redken salon in Fort Wayne, Indiana. After four years of working as the lead front desk coordinator. She relocated to Indianapolis. After going to our salon for two years she talked with the owners about becoming a part of our front desk team.

Rylee currently attends Ivy Tech Community College hoping to transfer to a bigger university to study Environmental Science in the next few years. Some of her interests include biking, hiking, kayaking, and spending time with her three dogs.

Rylee has always enjoyed working with people and interacting with new people. She has not been with our team for long but cannot wait to bring her own qualities and quirkiness to our team and to our guests for a great experience!
